Can I Have Fun At All?
Seriously, what are we doing?
It takes an ounce of courage and a minute practical detail when we answer the question:
“Why are you working?”
And you say;
“Because I have to eat…and live and buy…” – Of course right, what else? Ah well, there’s also something about feeding your mind, your spirit, and personality – aside from physical nourishment and growth.
There’s also this thing they call passion and aspirations or dreams.
You are just one person take note, needing all these things all at the same time.
Yes, all at the same time. It’s the most dreadful word called – Balance and Priority. These words are like heaven and hell, husband and wife, good and bad, night and day.
Despite the contrast, they cannot survive without the other – just like Love and Hate. All I want to say is when does work become fun and play?
It’s when we stop thinking too much of the money aspect, and going after your passion and aspirations in life.
You nourished the other side of your being, like feeding your mind, body and spirit all at once.
End result – A happy working person, who works but is having fun at the same time.
A happy person who goes to work excited, works well, and spreads the happiness within the work environment. This is how you Balance and Prioritize.
Balance, by being able to do what you love most while you earn for a living.
Prioritizing, is when you know that in order for you to work properly and keep working, you have to find a job that suits your personality – whatever monetary compensation is at stake.
The over all concept of Work or Job in this article will not dwell too much on high stakes and success values – based on material and monetary.
Simply because people who become successful are happy with what they are doing.
Artists and writers for example: It’s a melodramatic change every time they define success.
How they run on, when success, fame or recognition can be too long to attain?
If you ask them and look in their faces – “..how long have you worked hard to get here?” their initial reaction may be “…Geesh man..” or “…Wow! Honestly?…” –
Truth is they don’t mind, never minded and will never mind.
Most astonishing part is – they too are amazed.
It’s their passion and dream, so working too hard with less is bearable for them.
At first, it’s always a struggle and you will never have both – it’s either high pay or become successful, just either or.
You can choose to get a high paying job, but it will never guarantee success.
Let’s say you are successful, the question now will be – Are you happy with the Success or you are still looking for Substance or something else? Then you are not happy, therefore not really successful.
Some people who are driven by passion and dream chose to travel hard and lean during the early stages. Weird, but if you ask them if they were happy and had fun at all – they’d smile. They smile when they recount the hard days with fun times. Its because they’ve found the substance of working and dreaming.
They were able to balance and prioritize.
I know not all of us are given fair chances in life. Not all of us are presented with support and help that can easily drive us towards working with passion. Most of the time people are pushed to work for necessity and not dreams. That is basically the reason not everyone is successful, happy and contented. But all of us is entitled to our own success story. All of us are given the right to choose, to dream, to hope and strive. Each of us can be successful in our own little way. However, balance and set priorities to become successful takes a lot of personality and courage. Success comes to those who are willing to travel hard and lean. For those who understand how to give value to innate gifts or skills other than earning.
Work need not be your prison, it’s an avenue to enhance one’s being while earning. It should be fun and should create fun.
